LOCAL 138 LEGAL PLAN - FREE LEGAL SERVICES

      Eligible members and their dependents have as one of their union benefits free legal services. Wills, real estate transactions, criminal proceedings and domestic relations issues are but a few of the legal services available. 

     The law firm that provides the legal services is the firm of  BENJAMIN J. KLEMANOWICZ, JR., P.C.  located at           300 Old Country Road, Suite 241, Mineola, New York 11501.                                                                        

      The firm maintains a 24 hour a day answering service to respond to members in emergency situations.

      There are six senior attorneys in the firm that have the necessary expertise to handle all legal services provided under the Legal Plan.  No attorney has less than ten years experience and some have more than thirty years experience.

      The main focus of the firm has been the delivery of competent legal services to union members.  This the firm has been doing in excess of thirty years.  It was because of this expertise the firm was chosen to represent the eligible members of the Legal Plan.  It has been doing so since 1976.

     To assist those members and families who are injured or may be a victim of malpractice, our firm has become associated with the law firm of Sullivan, Papain, Block, McGrath & Cannavo, P.C., one of the largest personal injury firms in New York State.

      This firm obtained a $25 billion dollar settlement against the major tobacco companies for New York State and won a verdict against the Port Authority for all victims of the 1993 World Trade bombing.

      They are now of counsel to our firm and will make certain that the members and their families receive the maximum compensation for any injuries they may sustain.  These matters are handled on a contingency basis.
